Took a field trip to Shikano with local guides in class!!

At first, we visited Shikano fault. It is a local monument influenced by the 1943 Tottori earthquake, which locates in front of a house. 

The next we walked around Shikano town. Shikano was a castle town.

The city is in a grid pattern. You can walk on the streets with poor visibility because the street system used to play an important role to defend the town and it still remains there.

今日は環境学フィールド演習で鹿野巡検でした。

地元ガイドから鹿野断層と鳥取地震、城下町の街並みや建築上の特徴、天守閣跡から日本海を眺めながらの地形的特徴、廃校を活用した劇場運営などなど、様々なお話を伺うことができ、鹿野での自然環境と人の暮らしについて理解を深めました。

来週は湖山池で潟湖・砂丘における土地利用の過去・現在について考えます。
